Leadership and Group DynamicsLaajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

The student becomes familiar with group processes and the principles of leadership, learns how successful interaction is created, and what kinds of communication and negotiation skills are needed in leadership positions. The student becomes aware of the different ways people receive messages and learns to adapt his/her own messages in order to take the recipients into consideration.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student:
• has participated in class
• is familiar with group processes and the basic criteria of leadership
• understands the importance of interpersonal skills in group work and how to generate effective interaction between people
• understands what kind of communication and negotiation skills are required to be responsible for project management tasks
• is aware of different people’s ways of sending and receiving messages
• is familiar with various roles in group work situations
• is familiar with different types of leadership categories

Assessment criteria, good (3)

In addition, the student:
• is able to demonstrate control in meeting and negotiation situations
• is skilled in self-expression both verbally and with body language

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

In addition, the student:
• is capable of operating in different roles in a group and can adapt their own messages taking the recipients into account

The student:
