Objective
After completing the study unit, students
• can request for instructions and provide initial diagnostic information.
• are capable of the independent implementation of emergency care of the most common patient groups at advanced level.
• master the control of airways manually, with supraglottic devices and by intubation.
• can identify various types of arrhythmia and ischemic changes in the ECG.
• manage the use of communication network and the most common data terminal equipment.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Students manage the treatment of the most common patient groups by following written instructions for care. Students are aware of the most common medicines used in emergency care and their indications for use. Students can open and maintain airway manually and with supraglottic devices as well as know the technique of intubation. Students can follow the resuscitation algorithm in the most typical cases. Students know the principles of ECG interpretations concerning arrhythmia and ischemia and know how to describe them verbally. Students can use the treatment and support equipment of basic pre-hospital emergency care and are familiar with the use of equipment at advanced level. Students are proficient in day-to-day communication with authorities. Students know the responsibilities of advanced-level paramedics in leading the day-to-day activities.
