- 3 ECTS
Objective
Upon completion of this course the student will know the structures of wheels, axles and steering and their effect on drivability as well as kinematics.
Content
1. Wheels, rims
2. Wheel alignment and kinematics of an axle
3. Steering geometrics, drivability
4. Structure of car axles
Qualifications
Car's driving dynamics
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student is familiar with the concepts of basic structures of tires and suspension, steering geometry, kinematics, wheel alignment and knows how they affect drivability
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The student will have a good conceptual command of the basic principles of tires and suspension, steering geometry, kinematics, wheel alignment, understands how they work and is able to explain their effects on drivability
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student will have an excellent command of the principles of tires and suspension, steering geometry, kinematics and wheel alignment. The student demonstrates a deeper understanding of their functioning as well as their effect on drivability. The student is able to vary the design to improve drivability.
