Objective

The student knows the main phases in the history of the Western theatre from Antiquity to the 19th century as the well as the global practices of applied drama. The student understands performance concepts of different times and is able to identify the world views inherent in various forms of performance.

Content

The course covers the birth and development of the Western theatre, the main turning points and characteristics of different periods. The global perspective into theatre history comes from a selection of topics relating to applied drama. The course includes a series of lectures and practical learning assignments.
