Objective
Students are able to work as professionals in occupational health care. They identify current changes at the workplace and understand their effects on the health and wellbeing of the work-aged population. Students interpret legislation regarding occupational health care and other laws and recommendations guiding the implementation of actions promoting the health and wellbeing of employees at the workplace. Students evaluate multiprofessional and multidisciplinary principles of occupational health care in promotion of occupational welfare of employees and the workplace. Students appreciate their professional competence as experts of public health nurses’ work methods in multiprofessional work groups in occupational health care.
Content
Orientation to occupational health care: changes and developments in occupational life, the occupational health care law and statute
The basics of occupational health care expertise: occupational health that is in accordance with good standards of occupational health measures and practices, ethical principles and confidentiality rules
The effects of work on health, identifying dangers and prevention;
Working place declation and working place visit, risk evaluation: work hygiene factors, physical and mental loads, working place ergonomics and first aid alertness, nursing in occupational health
Upholding and promoting the ability to function at work: health inspectionsa dn screening, rehabilitation and legal pension arrangements for the work-aged population, instructional know-how: different pedagogical attitudes and models
Occupational health as the partner of the firm in developing occupational well-being and productivity: work community traditions, change processes, management of crisis and conflict situations, multiprofessional cooperation and web networking skills.
