After the course the student has mastered the scientific notation and can use it with confidence. The student can interpret graphs describing motion for simple cases. The student distinguishes between scalars and vectors and can divide vectors into components. The student can analyze simple dynamic situations in terms of equations of motion. The student has a fair facility in notation and calculation. The student understands the concepts of work, energy and power.
