Objective

After passing the class the student can utilize sophisticated tools and methods in 3D-modelling. The student is able to 3D-model geometrically demanding designs and highly developed and optimized structures. In 3D-modelling the student can take into account the geometrical demands created by different type of assemblies. In addition the possibilities and limitations of new manufacturing techniques (e.g. 3D-printing) will be familiar to the student. The technical drawings and documentation as a part of PDM(Product Data Management) will be learned, too.

Content

The class contains of advanced 3D-modelling techniques regarding the 3D-modelling of geometrically demanding parts and assemblies. Surface design modelling and several different simulation methods (dynamics and strength analysis of the structures and design for the assembly) are part of the class. The PDM (Product Data Managament) and the modern technical documentation will be introduced, too.

Evaluation scale

0-5

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

A student can model 100% geometrically challenging parts in assemblies, assemble an assembly 75% right and create 50% correct PDM documents.

A student can utilize with 50% certainty the assembly animation tools, strength analysis software and do a dynamic simulation of the structure.

A Student can optimize the geometries of the part designs with 50% certainty.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

A student can model 100% geometrically challenging parts in assemblies, assemble an assembly 100% right and create 75% correct PDM documents.

A student can utilize with 75% certainty the assembly animation tools, strength analysis software and do a dynamic simulation of the structure.

A Student can optimize the geometries of the part designs with 75% certainty.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

A student can model 100% geometrically challenging parts in assemblies, assemble an assembly 100% right and create completely correct PDM documents.

A student can utilize fluently the assembly animation tools, strength analysis software and do a dynamic simulation of the structure.

A Student can optimize not only the geometries of the parts but also of the assemblies.
