Objective

After completing the course, the student is familiar with the properties of different biomaterials, production techniques and possibilities of use. The student understands the enzymatic reactions in natural raw materials. S/he knows the potential of enzymes applications and uses in most commonly used industrial and analytical cases.

During the course the student will become acquainted with new materials, such as wood-based raw materials, nanomaterials, microbial energy sources. S/he understands the potential of materials in solving environmental problems.

Content

1. Properties and uses of different biomaterials, their biological degradation and recycling
2. Use of different groups of enzymes in the food, paper, medical, textile and chemical industries and in analytics
3. Uses of new materials in biotechnology and food production
