Objective

On completion of the course, the student understands the importance of practices related to occupational safety and environmental protection.
The student is familiar with the central concepts related to occupational safety and employment, and the legislation governing these.
The student knows the responsibilities and tasks of the different parties.
The student understands the importance of internal communication and communication skills in management.
The student understands the methods of persuasive speaking and the principles of composing written messages.
The student knows the principles of corporate communications and public relations.
The student knows the ethical and juridical considerations related to discussions and negotiations.

Content

The legislation governing occupational safety and its aims
The responsibilities of different parties, and practical measures to ensure occupational safety on a construction site
Legislation related to collective labour agreements, working hours, annual holidays and industrial co-operation
Communication skills: speaking and language use, discussion and negotiation skills in a professional context
Networking skills: working as a team member, acting as a supervisor on site, relationships and cooperation with internal and external clients.

The student can give grounds for his or her solutions.

The student can communicate in a client-oriented way in different situations and can assess and develop his or her interaction skills.
The student can produce written documents, and masters the principles of public relations in practice.
The student acts skilfully in negotiations.
