Objective

After completing this course, students will be familiar with their physical, social and digital study environments. Students will know the key guidelines, rules and study practices of Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. They will know the key student services and information gathering systems relevant to their studies.
Students will become familiar with the structure of the curriculum and thus know how to plan their study progress according to the Learning Track´s objectives. Students will understand the principles of project learning and its required work and study habits. They will also understand the principles of group learning and together take responsibility for their learning.
Students will recognise their accreditation of prior learning (APL) in relation to their individual learning objectives at the university of applied sciences and be able to plan the course of their studies based on them. They will understand their study-related strengths and development targets, and know how to develop their learning and study skills. Students will become familiar with national and international career opportunities and know how to improve their competence in international affairs.

•Student services: Student Affairs Office, study wellbeing and study planning guidance, international services, student union (METKA), library and IT services, IT administration services

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Opiskelija käyttää hallitusti ammattikäsitteistöä sekä perustelee valintojaan asiakkaan tarpeista käsin laaja-alaista tietoperustaa käyttäen. Opiskelija arvioi systemaattisesti oman toimintansa edellytyksiä ja seurauksia.
Opiskelija toimii erilaisissa toimintaympäristössä itsenäisesti ja ammatillisesti tavoitteiden suunnassa ja soveltaa työmenetelmiä asianmukaisesti ja turvallisesti.
Opiskelija työskentelee erilaisissa tilanteissa ammattieettisten periaatteiden mukaisesti ja toimii sitoutuneesti ryhmän toimintaa edistäen.

Students master professional concepts and make choices together with the client using the comprehensive knowledge base. They also assess and develop their own functioning systematically.
Students act independently and professionally aiming at goals set to them in their operating environment. They also apply working methods flexibly and safely.
Students work according to professional ethics considering the characteristics of various situations, and in their work they commit themselves to the code of professional conduct.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students master professional concepts and make choices together with the client using the comprehensive knowledge base, in changing environments. They also assess their own functioning and produce knowledge to develop their operating environment.
Students act independently and professionally and develop their working and operating environments together with other actors.
Students work according to professional ethics considering the characteristics of complex and unpredictable situations. Their work develops and renews professional procedures and practices.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Students master professional concepts, and they justify their choices using the comprehensive knowledge base, based on the client’s needs. Students assess systematically the prerequisites and consequences of their own actions.
Students act independently and professionally aiming at goals set to them in their operating environment as well as apply working methods appropriately and safely.
Students work according to professional ethics as well as commit themselves to the group, enhancing its functioning.
