Objective

Students are able to select a theory of occupational therapy to analyse the interventions of clients of different ages. Students are able to set objectives together with each client with a view to promoting the client’s occupational performance and participation. They are capable of analysing and modifying activities of daily living and local environments to match the client’s occupational performance. They are able to provide examples of how solutions are justified on the basis of experience, expertise and scientific knowledge. They recognise their own capabilities to engage in multidisciplinary co-operation in order to promote the client’s rehabilitation. They are aware of how achievement of occupational therapy objectives is assessed, how the results are reported and how further recommendations are made.
Students are able to apply knowledge from behavioural, biological, social and medical sciences to assessment and promotion of occupational performance and participation. Students recognise the most common mild developmental disorders and mental disorders, their underlying factors and epidemiology. They are familiar with the diagnosis and treatment of these. Students know the most common causes, symptoms and psychological consequences of structural brain damage and brain dysfunction. They understand the prerequisites and limits of rehabilitation of the brain and brain-related problems. Students are able to assess the adequacy of their own competence in treating clients and refer clients for neuropsychological and psychiatric services according to individual needs. They are able to apply neuropsychological knowledge in occupational therapy.
