Objective

Students know how to describe pain as a physical, mental and social phenomenon. They are aware of the most common injuries and diseases causing pain and start to realise the potential of physiotherapy in managing and alleviating various pains. Students have the basic knowledge of the epidemiology of pain, the special features of pain in various age groups and the classification of pain. They recognise different pains and develop their theoretical competence to prevent pain and provide individual treatment in physiotherapy. Students are familiar with the multiprofessional pain management. Students are able to describe the basic features of thermal and electrical equipment and their safety regulations. They can choose the correct parameters for tissue damage, various effect mechanisms of pain management and strengthening of muscles. Students know how to plan and implement
thermal treatment and electrical therapy safely and efficiently to clients. They understand the contraindications for thermal and electrical therapy and consider them in the planning of treatment.
