Objective

Students identify the most common disorders, repetitive strain injuries and deformities of toes and know how to describe their pathogenetic mechanisms. They are able to apply the treatment principles of the above-mentioned disorders accordingly.

Students identify the most common sports injuries and master the principles of their treatment. Students are familiar with typical findings and differential diagnoses of kinetic chain disorders and know how to perform the necessary studies to identify these.

Students are able to apply their skills in instructing functional exercises when instructing exercises for special groups. Students are able to apply functional exercise as part of a client’s daily activities.

Students are able to use various pain treatment methods to treat clients’ conditions. Students identify circulatory disorders of the lower extremities and are able to explain their pathogenic mechanisms, symptoms and therapeutic principles. Students are familiar with the possibilities of lymph therapy in treatment of swelling in the lower extremities. Students are able to recommend medical compression hosiery for those who need them and are able to describe the principles for obtaining them. Students master the principles of treating inflammations. Students are able to describe the principles of and indications for therapeutic taping and to perform different types of tapings, using appropriate taping materials.

Students are aware of the most common injuries, traumas and diseases being treated in the field of orthopaedics and traumatology. Students are familiar with the key causal agents and symptoms of orthopaedic and surgical problems and the basics of diagnostic and therapeutic methods within the field and understand podiatry as part of operative treatment.
