Objective

The student is familiar with key concepts of the economy and understands the connection between service provision and the financial and supervision systems used in the health and social services sector. The student is aware of the requirements of economic efficiency and understands the financial situation of the organization. He/she can promote economic efficiency, productivity and effectivity in front-line management. The student recognizes the significance of knowledge management for financial leadership and is able to enhance daily management with statistical data as well as information produced by financial administration services.

Content

- The key concepts of financial management
- The framework, management and monitoring of the Finnish public economy and their connection to the services and the development of service production within the health and social sector
- Social and health care statistics as an aid to financial management
- Using data produced by the company’s financial administration services in financial management
- Interpretation of the income statement and balance
- The supervision and monitoring of economy, effectiveness and cost impact in daily managerial work

27. Oct. Interview at the workplace.
Additionally students will watch recorded lectures independently.
