Objective
The student understands the relationship between a cultural producer and media as well as the role of media in the field of culture and event production. The student is familiar with the basics of reporting, is able to create a communications register and a communications plan needed in event production. The student is able to write a press release suitable for the target media. The student is able to build and sustain essential media relations as part of the work of a cultural manager.
The student’s writing skills reach the level required in professional and expert positions. The student is able to write various types of texts and understands the principles of journalistic writing in the field of culture and arts. The student gains competence in language planning, text revision and editing as well as learns methods to enrich and enhance his/her writing. The student is able to provide constructive peer feedback on the texts written during the course.

Further information
Ryhmä jaetaan osittain kahteen ryhmään kontaktiopetusta varten.
Opintojaksoon sisältyy tiedotuksen perusteet, ammattikirjoittaminen ja kulttuurialaan liittyvä journalistinen kirjoittaminen sekä blogisivuston luominen ja sinne kirjoittaminen.
Opinto on tarkoitettu kulttuurituotannon opiskelijoille.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student understands the different stages of a reporting process and is able to write a press release. The student writes pragmatic texts relevant to culture and arts and is familiar with the key journalistic texts and registers of the field.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The student is able to plan a reporting process and write a press release taking into consideration the target media. The student writes various types of pragmatic texts grammatically correctly and understands the principles of journalistic texts of the cultural field. The student is able to develop his/her own writing based on feedback and pay attention to register and stylistic features of texts.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student masters the various aspects of the reporting process, media relations and writing press releases. The student writes various pragmatic texts of the field fluently and grammatically correctly and is able to apply this knowledge into writing the key journalistic texts in the field of culture.
