Objective

Students form an understanding of the raw materials used in industrially manufactured products, as well as their features and working methods. Students familiarise themselves with the special features of the design processes of plastic and metal products. Students learn to evaluate the suitability of different materials and production methods in solving the requirements for functionality and use of the product.

The course consists of the main principles in analysing physics and mechanical design. Mechanical design focuses on the main principles of mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics and energy studies. Mechanical studies are relevant for the fields of transportation, health informatics and the production and development of equipment and machinery.

- the student can design, model and manufacture a simple mechanical product
- the student can deduce material and structure solutions through trial and simulation
- the student knows the basics of hydraulics and pneumatics
- the student can mechanise simple 2D parts with CNC equipment
