Objective

Students are able to improve their Swedish communication skills as part of their professional development.

When studying and working in the media industry, students are able to do the following in Swedish

• describe their skills and the results of their work
• retrieve, assess and apply professional information
• design, develop, implement and present ideas, concepts, solutions, applications, products, services and processes
• communicate with clients and partners
• give and process feedback.


Students’ Swedish language proficiency is equivalent to Level B1 (or higher) on the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR).

Students acquire the written and oral language skills in the second domestic language (Swedish) that are necessary in the media field, as required by national legislation (352/2003 8§).

Content

Self-assessment of language and communication skills, goal setting, planning of learning and the use of language tools.

Assignments relating to studies, job seeking and work situations in the media field.

Course contents will be tailored according to the requirements of each major.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Student is able to communicate in the most typical, highly predictable study and work situations in a simple way. Most of the communication is understandable.

Student’s Swedish language proficiency is equivalent to Level B1.1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR).

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Student is able to communicate clearly in ordinary study and work situations. Most of the communication is appropriate to the situation.

Students’ Swedish language proficiency is equivalent to Level B1.2 or B2.2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR).

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Student is able to communicate fluently in complex and demanding study and work situations. Communication is effortless and appropriate to the situation.

Students’ Swedish language proficiency is equivalent to Level B2.2 or C1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR).

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Student is able to communicate in the most typical, highly predictable study and work situations in a simple way. Most of the communication is understandable.

Student’s Swedish language proficiency is equivalent to Level B1.1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR).
