Objective

On completion of the course students are equipped with the required methodological knowledge to prepare and facilitate the research and writing process of the Master’s Thesis.

Content

- Research approaches (action research, multiple and single case studies, construction research approach)
- Research methods and techniques applicable in a Master’s Thesis
- Data collection methods and approaches to data analysis (including reliability and validity issues)
- Structure, research design, and objective of a Master’s Thesis

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Course is graded pass/fail. In order to pass the student has identified a research problem and formulated a research objective for the study. The student has developed a research design, outlined the scope, and applied an appropriate research approach to investigate the identified problem. His/her Master’s Thesis is grounded through the analysis of the data collected by the student, and a valid and reliable research outcome is suggested as a solution to the problem. Finally, the research findings are reported in an appropriate academic manner, utilizing research argumentation, and grounded in the sufficient theoretical/literature review.
