Metropolia's facilities are located in the central metropolitan area of Finland (the cities of Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa) along main public transport systems.
The close proximity to the working life allows Metropolia and its students to form connections to various industries, corporations and public organizations.
Facilities for Developing Forms of Learning
The oldest buildings of Metropolia were constructed in the 19th century and the newest in the beginning of the 21st century. Despite the buildings' age range all facilities represent the values of their time and have been equipped with modern technology.
The computers, data projectors and network access points found throughout Metropolia's facilities offer tools for continually developing forms of learning and teaching.
The Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) which are present in the university's facilities make it possible for students to concentrate on their studies not only in classrooms but also in adjacent spaces (e.g. canteens, reception areas).
The Student Union of Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, METKA arranges sport classes for both students and personnel. Sport opportunities are offered in all facilities which contain sport halls or gyms.
Facilities and Facilities Services
Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences consists of 21 facilities which encompass approximately 117 000 square meters (1 259 380 square feet). The university's facilities are located in the cities of Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa. In total the facilities serve 14 000 students and 1 000 teachers and members of staff.
The spaces, facilities and facility services are coordinated by the Facilities Services unit which operates under Finance and Administration department.
Sustainable development is taken into account in Metropolia's daily operations as well as in the facility services (e.g. sorting the debris, selection of cleaning supplies).
